OUR CURRICULUM
Barnet & Southgate College Creative Industries Department is dedicated to fostering creativity and excellence in the arts. We offer a comprehensive range courses that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, aiming to develop the next generation of creative artists and designers.
Our courses equip our student with the skills needed for a successful career in the creative sectors, including Animation, Games Design, VFX, Television and Film, Journalism, Social Media services, Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing, Online Interactive and Web Development, Photojournalism, Illustration, Graphic Design, Architecture, Product Design, Curation, Interior Design and Fashion Design.
OUR FACILITIES
Our modern facilities offer students the latest 2D & 3D technology and specialised workshops at the Barnet Campus. These include a new cutting-edge industry standard TV Studio / Post Production & Sound Suite, commercial photography studio, print studio, metal & woodwork studio, greenscreen room, Fashion and Architecture studio. Media studios include Apple iMac suites for editing, state of the art HD cameras and dedicated film scanners. All studios are equipped with a range of Apple iMac computers and industry standard applications.
The Department is excited to announce:
Sky Scholarship – a two-week expensive paid work experience placement at the Sky Group headquarters. The successful candidates will observe and work with all the different roles that combine to produce live content and gain valuable hands-on experience at Sky Studios Osterley and have the chance to work alongside people already working within the industry and will help them plan for their future careers
We encourage you to enrol onto our courses and follow your own progression route right up to Level 3. Each of the course levels allow you to choose which direction you want to go in, after completing a level you can choose from any of the courses at the next level and make informed decisions about your future studies. On offer are all the major art & design and media disciplines in state-of-the-art facilities.

The full-time courses on this page are mainly for students aged 16-18. BTEC courses are designed as a more vocational pathway to higher education or employment, and the starting level depends on students' achieved grades. We recommend you apply for the course that fits your predicted or achieved grades (entry requirements are listed on the course pages under the tab : WHAT QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?). Barnet and Southgate College guarantees to place every student on a suitable course. If you don’t meet the entry criteria for one course, we will find you another suitable study programme to help you progress and achieve your ambitions.
In order to help your career progression, most of our courses involve a considerable degree of work experience, which the College can assist you in finding. The exact amount of work experience required for each course will vary, but you can discuss this with tutors at your interview.
