The BSC Bears Boxing Education Academy is for students over 16 years old, and combines full-time academic education with 8hours a week of high-quality boxing coaching throughout the academic year as part of the student’s study programme. In addition to the training, students have the opportunity to undertake Boxing vocational qualifications, mentoring in the sport and offers students a pathway into coaching and employment in the boxing industry.
The Academy is run in partnership with England Boxing and Get Set Go Sport, who have a proud reputation and pedigree in boxing. England Boxing coaches deliver the Boxing content, developing a bespoke and elite coaching environment. The programme is designed to compliment the work that young Boxers may be doing with their clubs and existing coaches and students are actively encouraged to remain with their existing clubs whilst on the programme or if not affiliated to a club already will be helped to find a suitable one.
The coaches will deliver a variety of technical and physical content. All Boxers on the Academy will be licensed to Box and receive a Boxing medical through the programme if they do not already have this through their existing clubs or it has expired. Based on feedback with student’s club coaches, delivery will be split between;
Students on this pathway are able to select from a number of full-time academic qualifications to study ranging from BTEC Level 1, 2, 3 or Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, A Level packages, NVQ Level 2 in Activity Leadership (Coaching), YMCA Personal Training and Gym Instruction Courses.
