What qualifications or experience do I need?
To join the course, applicants should be aged 19 or above and have a genuine enthusiasm for creative problem-solving and design. We normally expect GCSE English at grade 4/C or higher, but if you don’t have this, you may be asked to complete a short internal assessment so we can ensure you’re ready for the reading, writing, and research elements of the programme.
A strong portfolio is valuable, but you do not need to be professionally trained, we’re looking for curiosity, effort, and emerging potential, not perfection. Above all, we want to understand how you think and how willing you are to develop your skills.
We’re committed to helping you find the best possible starting point for your journey into creative education. If you have any worries about applying, preparing a portfolio, or meeting entry requirements, please reach out. Our team is here to support you every step of the way and help you progress confidently toward your future in architecture and design.
What will I study ?
This course prepares you for progression into architecture and the built environment by developing the creative, technical and academic skills needed for higher education. You will build core architectural study skills including research, visual communication, drawing, model making and portfolio development. Through practical, project-based work, you will explore historical and contemporary architectural styles, develop design ideas, and produce 2D and 3D outcomes. The course also supports independent learning, teamwork and academic confidence, helping you prepare for university-level study in architecture and related subjects.

Will I need an interview ?
As part of your application, you’ll be invited to a Course Welcome & Portfolio Conversation with one of our specialist tutors. This informal meeting is designed to help us learn more about you, your ideas, interests, and motivation for pursuing architecture and design. You’ll be asked to bring a small selection of your recent creative work so we can see how you think visually and creatively. This might include drawings, photography, 3D pieces, digital work, or any personal projects you feel proud of.
During your meeting, we’ll talk through what the course involves, explore your creative goals, and offer clear guidance on the skills and commitment needed to succeed. It’s also your chance to ask questions, understand progression pathways, and make sure this is the right learning environment for you.
