The full-time courses on this page are mainly for students aged 16-18. BTEC courses are designed as a more vocational pathway to higher education or employment, and the starting level depends on students' achieved grades.  We recommend you apply for the course that fits your predicted or achieved grades (entry requirements are listed on the course pages under the tab : WHAT QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?). Apply now to study next September - a tutor will make sure you are on the right course and level at your interview.

Barnet and Southgate College guarantees to place every student on a suitable course.  If you don’t meet the entry criteria for one course, we will find you another suitable study programme to help you progress and achieve your ambitions.

In order to help your career progression, most of our courses involve a considerable degree of work experience, which the College can assist you in finding. The exact amount of work experience required for each course will vary, but you can discuss this with tutors at your interview.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business

Level 3 Business students Pauline, Rengisa, Tzenifer and Gloria talk about their experiences at Barnet and Southgate College.

Vasiliki Shoupra

“I am studying at Barnet Campus and I’m on the BTEC Business level 3. Everything on the course has been lovely and everyone has been very supportive. My highlight are all of the lectures as the teachers help you a lot, and if you’re struggling they explain something to you many times until you are comfortable enough to complete all of your assignments, in fact all the teachers in the business department are amazing. I come into College three days a week, and most of my course is based on assignments and coursework rather than exams.

"In secondary school I found it hard as I didn’t know much English but here at College I improved my vocabulary and the course really helped me. The social life at College is really good and everyone is really friendly, in fact making new friends has been the best bit and my highlight of the course. College also helps you with work placements and they help you find one to make sure that you get the right work experience. My plans are to go to university once I have finished my level 3; I already have an offer at the University of Greenwich studying international business with Spanish. Eventually my dream would be to launch my own skincare brand as I love skincare and beauty.

"I would definitely recommend the College to my friends and family as it’s a really nice environment and everyone here is really helpful and they really believe in you and they believe that you can achieve anything.”
