This course at Barnet and Southgate College is aimed at learners who have an interest in sport and computer gaming and want to develop their knowledge and skills to progress to employment in the esports industry, or who may aspire to enter higher education.
The BTEC L3 National Extended Diploma in Esports is a two-year qualification and is equivalent in size to 3 A levels. On completion of this qualification, learners can progress onto employment or Higher Education.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
To get on this course you are required to have 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including English, Maths and preferably P.E. Applicants with a BTEC L2 Certificate require a Merit grade, with English and maths GCSEs at a minimum grade 4.
You must have an interest and choose from one of the following academies on your application: Esports; Athletics; Basketball; Football; Tennis; Boxing or Leadership.
It would be ideal that you have previous experience playing competitive sport however, not necessary to secure a place on the course.
What will I study ?
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Esports covers 15 units over two academic years. In this course, you will study a range of topics on different sections of the esports industry, such as: Introduction to Esports; Esports Skills, strategies and Analysis; Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry; Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players; Shoutcasting; Broadcasting; Video Production; Games Design; Coaching; Nutrition and Psychology for Esports Performance. You will also have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessments will take place throughout the course including: Written assignments; practical assessments; presentations; professional discussions and projects.
Each unit is graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Esports.
