If you are over 16 years old and have an interest in sports performance, sports leadership or fitness, the BTEC Level 2 at Barnet and Southgate College may be for you. Specially designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for successful employment in the sport and recreation industries, BTEC Level 2 also prepares you for the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
To get on this course you are required to have 4 GCSEs at grades 9 - 3, (A*- D), including English and/or Maths and preferably P.E.
Alternatively, you should have a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure with Level 1 Functional Skills English and maths
You must have an interest and choose from one of the following academies on your application: Athletics; Basketball; Football; Tennis; Boxing or Leadership.
It would be ideal that you have previous experience playing competitive sport however, not necessary to secure a placement on the course.
What will I study ?
You will study a wide range of sport related subjects, including: Anatomy & Physiology; Practical sports performance; Running a sports event; Leading sports activities; Fitness for sport and exercise; employability skills.
You will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience as part of the curriculum.
As part of your full-time study programme you will also be required to attend training with your chosen academy.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessments will take place throughout the course including: 2 exams (external assessment); practical assessments; written assignments; presentations and workbooks.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve a BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Sport (NQF).
