What qualifications or experience do I need?
You will require a Merit in BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Applied Science (60 credits), and a standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to 6 GCSEs at grades 9-4 including science, additional science, mathematics and English language, as well as a reference from your last/current school.
What will I study ?
You will study a wide range of science units based on biology, chemistry and physics. These units cover many diverse aspects of scientific investigation, as the idea is to gain both a theoretical and practical feel for this field of study.
This qualification will help you to progress onto Level 4 science – orientated courses, for example biomedical sciences, nursing, radiography, psychology, forensic studies, etc.
How will I be assessed ?
All units will be assessed and graded, and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. To achieve a pass grade for the qualification you must complete and achieve a minimum of a pass in all units. Units will be assessed by controlled assessment.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this two-year course, you will achieve a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Applied Science, with specialism in Biomedical Science.

Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?
Learners are expected to provide their own textbooks. Laboratory coats are provided by the college, however it is good practice to provide your own, particularly if you are planning to progress on to further laboratory sciences.
