What qualifications or experience do I need?

4 GCSEs grade 8/9 - 3 (A*-D), preferably including English; a Functional Skills Level 1 in maths and/or English, or a Level 1 qualification in a related area; and a reference from your previous school/college. What will I study?

What will I study ?

You will experience different performance styles, try out new ideas and gain an understanding of the performing arts industry at Barnet and Southgate College. Projects are largely based on practical assignments and performances, with some written exercises and evaluations. You will study some of the following areas of performance: Singing, Acting and Dance skills; Musical Theatre; Individual Showcase; Preparation, Performance and Production; Community Arts; The Performing Arts Industry and Enterprise; Performance in Context; Movement Skills; Devising Performance Work; Exploring Improvisation; Voice and Speech for Performers; Performing Scripted Plays; Contemporary Dance Techniques. There will be a series of practical assignments varying from informal small group presentations to larger public performances.

How will I be assessed ?

You will be assessed regularly throughout the course. Assessment is formative and coursework is assessed throughout the year.

What qualifications could I achieve ?

BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in Performing Arts
