SEN students present triumphant 'Dorian Gray' in conjunction with RADA

Barnet and Southgate students from the SEN Centre staged a production of Oscar Wilde's 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'

The students from the Performing Arts course for SEN learners worked with students and staff from RADA in a collaboration over several months.

The RADA team helped the students with technical support, and culminated in performances at the Finchley Youth Theatre and at RADA's theatre in Central London.

Julie Murphy, Head of the SEN Centre on the College's Southgate Campus, said:

"Our partnership with RADA goes from strength to strength, offering an incredible experience to our talented students, alumni, volunteers and teaching team.

The professional learning opportunities have been challenging, inspiring, motivating and transformational for our young people that will be remembered for the rest of their lives. What an experience - thank you RADA!"

Liam Daniels (Dorian Gray)

Liam Daniels, a Performing Arts student, played Dorian Gray (and also features as a case study in the new Barnet and Southgate College summer marketing campaign).

Liam said:

"My tutors Cheryl, Tom and Helen have helped me grow as a performer, and also as an adult, I would say, because I have become more confident in myself, and with others, and I feel like I have gained so much love and support from them.

"Working with RADA has been such a great opportunity to be part of a much wider theatre environment.

"Coming to this College is like being in a family; I just love the Performing Arts group."
