Hairdresser Yasmine excels in national competition

Level 1 Hairdressing student Yasmine Kwamba, based at the Colindale Campus, won through to second place in a national hairdressing competition in Telford.

Yasmine was entered into the competition, organised by Concept Hair magazine, by her tutor.

Together with fellow students she travelled to Telford College to compete in her category, in which she won through to second place.

Philippa O'Brien, Curriculum Manager for Hair and Beauty at Barnet and Southgate College, said:

"This was a huge achievement - well done Yasmine!"

As well gaining her prestigious second place, Yasmine also won a set of professional hair straighteners and was granted membership of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing.

Yasmine said of the competition -

"It was amazing to see so many other hairdressers at work, and see all their different techniques - I was 100% inspired by the experience!"
