Construction MD and ex-student celebrates 10 years of business in the sector

Barnet and Southgate College Construction alumna and company MD Suzanne Edwards is featured in Construction Industry News

Suzanne Edwards formed Suzie Construction ten years ago after completing a construction course at Barnet and Southgate College.

To celebrate this milestone, Suzanne and her company were featured in the December 2022 edition of Construction Industry News as an example of a success story and role model for women's involvement in the construction sector.

“Women have worked in the industry for years and we are now coming together more to make an enormous difference in the sector. There has been a significant shift and I really want to be part of that, providing opportunities for others. This is an incredibly special thing for me.

My background in different sectors has ... given me a range of skills to better understand people and have a more professional approach that contains a number of elements, such as loyalty and trustworthiness. I’ve been very fortunate to have had these experiences and to incorporate the lessons learnt into my own business.”

On a recent catch-up visit to Barnet and Southgate College's state-of-the-art construction facilities at the Colindale Campus, Suzanne said:

"The College really helped me to take my first steps in construction. I did a Level 2 Bricklaying course, which I really loved. It's great to come back and keep in touch; the teachers were so knowledgeable about the industry and taught me so much."
