Students and staff gathered at college campuses to receive their results and celebrate together
Students achieved 100% pass rates in many subjects, including sociology, physics, music, mathematics, English literature, chemistry, biology, media studies and their extended projects.
As a result, the vast majority of students were offered places at their first choice university.
Similarly, our BTEC Level 3 students did fantastically well, with many scoring high distinction grades.
This year our students will be progressing to institutions such as University of Glasgow, University of Westminster, Royal Holloway, University of Greenwich and Oxford Brookes University, reading a wide range of subjects such as biomedical science, law, media production, business and marketing and economics.
Barnet and Southgate CEO and Principal, Neil Coker, said:
“We are pleased to celebrate our students’ successes yet again as we see another year of excellent results for the students of Barnet and Southgate College.
"There have been some notable individual achievements which we are really proud of, but it is great to see so many students do so well, not only on our excellent A Level programme but also the high number of students being successful across our range of vocational programmes that include Creative Arts and Media, Health and Education, IT and Business, Science, Engineering and of course our highly successful Sports Academy programmes.
"We are extremely pleased that so many of our students are now looking forward to progressing to university and many to their first choice.
"We are also now supporting students from across our region who want advice and guidance about their next steps; with some looking to join Barnet and Southgate College’s A Level programme, or study high quality vocational and technical qualifications, including new T Level Qualifications; while others may look to stay local and access our successful higher education and degree courses.”
Serly got A, A, B grades at A Levels in biology, maths and chemistry – and is going on to study biomedical sciences at the University of Westminster.
Serly said: “The good thing about our tutors was they not only taught us to get to where we are right now, they also put in extra effort beyond the classes - if we had any questions they were always ready to answer them.”
“I moved to the UK only two years ago; and without the College I wouldn't have been able to make as many friends as I have right now.”
Fabian got one Distinction and two Distinction plus grades in his BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business – and is going on to study Business Management and Marketing at the University of Westminster.
Fabian, who volunteered for many extra duties and events during his time at the Barnet Campus, said: “I never realised how much I'd enjoy it here, and I never saw myself getting involved with any activities or anything, but I'm really pleased I did.”
“I just enquired about volunteering and one thing led to another - I was student rep, student ambassador, worked on the helpdesk and so on.”
