Barnet and Southgate College Announce Lord Levy as President

Barnet and Southgate College has a long-standing relationship with Lord Levy who has championed the work of the College for a number of years

Building on this relationship, the College is delighted to have now appointed Lord Levy as its President.

Lord Levy is a dedicated supporter of the College and is passionate about the work it does and its place as an anchor institution in the boroughs it serves. His appointment as President acknowledges the time and commitment Lord Levy gives so freely to act as a trusted advisor, champion and supporter of the College.

Neil Coker, CEO and Principal at the College said, “I am extremely pleased that Lord Levy has agreed to accept our invitation to be formally named as our President. His support for the college is really important to us and the time he gives to support and champion our work, and the successes of our students is of huge value”

As a dedicated supporter of the education system, Lord Levy adds Barnet and Southgate College to the list of educational establishments he already formally supports, including a number of schools in North London. Lord Levy has a long-standing connection to the education sector and was President of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and was responsible for the success of the Academies Programme under the brief from Prime Minister Blair.

One of Lord Levy’s first formal engagements as the College President will be as a guest at the forthcoming opening of the new STUDIO facility at their Barnet Campus. STUDIO is a £1.4m development that houses an industry standard TV studio, a post-production and music production suite and a brand new games development and VFX studio with state of the art resources.

Accepting his new appointment, Lord Levy said, “I am a great believer in the value of Further Education and the work it does to contribute to the skills needs across the UK. Barnet and Southgate College changes the lives of many young people and adult students by giving them the skills and qualifications they need to progress on to university or directly into work. The College is securing the reputation it deserves as a high-quality provider of learning and skills and I fully support the work Neil, his team and all the staff at the college do to change the lives of the 1000’s of students every year”

Lord Levy went on to say, “I feel honoured to play my part in championing the college and acting as a trusted ambassador for all it achieves”.
