Students Nathaniel Charalambous, Martin Deskov, Noora Ghodrati, Brianna McArthur-Brown, Reonshus Norman and Leilana Zoleta, who studied Level 3 Animation and Games Design, took the brief directly from Sarah Castle, the Head of Access and Learning at the RAF Museum in Hendon.
Ms Castle said of the project:
‘My experience of working with the Year 2 Animation students on their Employer Engagement Work Experience project was an entirely a positive one. I was looking for an animation which depicted the life of an SOE agent (essentially a spy) called Noor Inayat Khan. Noor’s is a story we love to share, and I wanted to connect younger audiences with her story by working with other young people to help tell it in an engaging and innovative way. The animation students did not disappoint! They researched, scripted and storyboarded, sharing their ideas and questions with me along the way.
'Particular thanks must go to tutor, Neal Cotham for the way he managed the relationship and kept me informed of progress in the regular client meetings I had with him and the students. It was a challenging brief which the students handled in a mature way. They were responsive and professional throughout and took feedback well. I really hope they enjoyed working on the animation. The Museum is delighted with the end product. Not only is it up on our schools’ webpages, but we also show the animation to secondary school students as part of our ‘Flying Colours’ workshop which looks at diverse identities in the RAF. As an organisation, our vision is to inspire everyone with the RAF story. I see this animation as an extension of this ambition.’
