For students aged 16-18 and wishing to gain more experience/develop their skills in the Health, Social Care & Social Work, Sociology/Psychology and Nursing/Midwifery sector. This course at Barnet and Southgate College provides an excellent introduction to the topics which you will study when you go to University to pursue a career in your chosen field. You will gain practical experience to the everyday work involved in these professions.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
Applicants will require a CACHE Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care plus GCSE maths and English Grade C (4/5) or above. You may also apply if you have 5 GCSE grade A*-C (8/9 - 4/5), which must include English Language and maths at Grade C (4/5) or above. We will require an excellent reference from a previous school or college confirming a good record of attendance and punctuality.

Human growth and development; Safeguarding in health and social care; Working in health and social care; Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care; Communication in health and social care; Sociological perspectives in health and social care; Psychological perspectives in health and social care; Reflective practice;
Synoptic External Marked Assessment.
How will I be assessed ?
Your assessment will be based on completion of assignments and attending 160 hours of work placement.

Will I need an interview ?
You will be contacted by a member of the admissions team for a chat. When you come into college you will have to submit a handwritten personal statement of approximately 200 words to your interview, highlighting why you would like to work in the health and social care sector.
