This course is for young people aged 16 – 19 (or to 25 with an EHCP). The course is an ideal next step for learners looking to move on to Level 3 courses in Business or ICT, or learners who are assessed at interview to be working at Level 2. What qualifications or experience do I need?
NONE You do not need any formal qualifications. There will be a test at interview to assess English, maths and communication skills.
What will I study ?
Functional Skills Maths (Entry 3 – Level 2), Functional Skills English (Entry 3 – Level 2) and a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Vocational studies - made up of 4 Core units to help develop organisational and study skills, and 6 sector units focusing on Business and ICT. In addition, you will have a weekly tutorial with your own personal tutor and a work experience placement.
How will I be assessed ?
You will complete assessments throughout the year and complete end of year exams.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
Functional Skills Maths (Entry 3 – Level 2), Functional Skills English (Entry 3 – Level 2) and a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Vocational studies (Pass/Merit or Distinction grades).

Will I need an interview ?
Yes - but it is more of a discussion than an interview. We want to open the doors that are closed to you right now and an important part of this is seeing you in person and discussing how we can help. You will also sit an English and Maths assessment to help us establish your level. Please bring any exam, qualification certificates and support documents to interview.
Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?
You only need to provide basic equipment such as pens, paper, folders, calculators etc. We will supply the rest.
