This is a one year full-time course designed for students 16-18 years (inclusive) who wish to retake or increase their GCSEs in Business, Sociology, Psychology and/or Literature, as well as GCSE maths and English. Students will be assessed on entry in order to assign them to the appropriate GCSE pathway. (Please note you DO NOT have to apply GCSE maths and English separately – they are part of this package.)

What qualifications or experience do I need?
You will be expected to have at least a grade 3 (D) in English and maths and two other subjects. You will also be expected to demonstrate, through assessment, a standard of literacy and numeracy suitable for a level 2 qualification. You must have a genuine interest in and an aptitude for Business, ICT and/or Psychology.
What will I study ?
You will spend four days a week at Barnet and Southgate College studying GCSE English, GCSE Maths and three other GCSEs from Business, Sociology, Literature and Psychology. You will study and complete work in classrooms and online on different learning platforms. You will be expected to do at least 5 hours of independent study every week. In addition, you will have a weekly tutorial with your own personal tutor and a 36 hour work experience placement.

How will I be assessed ?
You will complete assessments throughout the year and complete end of year exams.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve GCSE certificates in each subject studied.
How do I join the course ?
Please apply online (via the orange button) and the College will contact you shortly. After you apply, you will be invited to interview where you can meet the teaching team and discuss your plans. Please bring anyone such as family members or carers to help. If you like the course and you meet the entry requirements you will be enrolled, given a student ID and join the course for induction at the beginning of term.

Will I need an interview ?
Yes, you will need to meet with a member of staff for an interview and an initial assessment.
Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?
You only need to provide basic equipment such as pens, paper, folders, calculators etc. We will supply the rest.
