Esports is defined as organised competitive gaming. If you are over 16 years old and have an interest in Esports, then the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Esports at Barnet and Southgate College may be the course for you. This qualification is aimed at learners who are looking to progress to employment in the esports industry, possibly via an apprenticeship in a related industry, or whose aspirations may also be to progress to Further Education such as the BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Esports, Information Technology, Creative Media, Sport, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship or Business. The qualification is endorsed by The British Esports Association as being suitable for learners wanting to work in this industry – this means that it will be recognised by employers in a range of roles.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
To get on this course you are required to have 4 GCSEs at grades 8/9 - 3 (A*- D), preferably including English, Maths and P.E. Alternatively, you should have a BTEC Level 1 Diploma with Level 1 Functional Skills English and Maths. It would be ideal that you have previous experience playing competitive gaming however, not necessary to secure a placement on the course.
What will I study ?
Learners taking the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Esports qualification will study 6 units, of which the following 5 are mandatory: Esports Games, Teams and Tournaments; Establishing an Esports Organisation; Streaming for Esports; Plan an Esports Event; Start an Enterprise in Esports. Learners will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience. As part of the study programme, you will be required to be part of and attend training with one of our Academies: eSports or Leadership.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessments will take place throughout the course, through internal assessments consisting of practical assessments; written assignments; presentations; workbooks. At the end of the programme, there is a synoptic internal assessment based on Unit 2: Establishing an Esports Organisation and takes the form of a vocational activity in which learners must develop an esports brand. In completing this synoptic units, learners will investigate different types of global sports organisations; they will create a brand for an esports organisation as we as a plan to promote their chosen brand. Each unit is graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Esports.
