English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for young adults aged 16 - 18. You will study English, Maths, IT. You will also have enrichment in a range of subjects including, Science, Sport and Citizenship. Students also take part in arts and crafts activities, daytrips and hold fundraising events for charities.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
There are no formal entry requirements but you must be a permanent resident, refugee or asylum seeker and aged between 16 and 18 at the start of the course.
What will I study ?
The course is full-time, studying 13 hours a week at Barnet and Southgate College. ESOL is studied for 7.5 hours (with tutorials), and other subjects for 5 - 6 hours. English (ESOL Skills for Life qualifications): Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening; maths; IT; sport. As well as the timetabled subjects, there are also regular enrichment activities, such as magazine production. In addition, the enrichment programme has a trip out every term (eg. museums) and a course party.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessment will be through: * Initial: Interview & written test. * On course: Continuous classroom assessment. * Ascentis examinations from Entry 1 to Level 2
What qualifications could I achieve ?
You will take an ESOL qualification in Reading, Writing and Speaking. You will also take Functional Skills Maths and Functional Skills ICT.

All students will have a named tutor who will advise and monitor progress in language learning and advise students on how to make the most of their classes. Students can be referred to Student Services for assistance, guidance or support.
