What qualifications or experience do I need?
5 GCSE at grades 9-4 (A-C) including maths at grade 5 or above and English. Functional Skills English is accepted Level 2. Alternatively, you will have a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering at Merit grade, along with the English and Maths at the required levels.
What will I study ?
This course at Barnet and Southgate College comprises 7 units. There are 4 mandatory units - Engineering principles; Delivery of Engineering process Safely as a Team; Engineering Product Design and Manufacture; and Applied commercial and Quality principles in Engineering.
Then there are 3 Optional units - Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems; Computer Aided Design in Engineering; Static Mechanical Principles in Practice.
How will I be assessed ?
BTEC Nationals are assessed using a combination of internal assessments, which are set and marked by teachers, and external assessments which are set and marked by Pearson:
1. Mandatory units have a combination of internal and external assessments. 2. All optional units are internally assessed.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering.
(Equivalent to 1.5 A Levels)
