What qualifications or experience do I need?
4 GCSEs at grades 9-3 (A-D) including maths at grade 4 (C) or above and English. Functional Skills English Level 1 is accepted. Alternatively you may have a Level 1 Diploma in a related subject, along with the English and Maths at the required levels.
What will I study ?
This course at Barnet and Southgate College will cover the following units. The Engineered World, Investigating an Engineered Product, Health and Safety in Engineering, Engineering Maintenance, Engineering Materials, Interpreting and Using Engineering Information, Electrical and Mechanical Science for Engineering, Mathematics for Engineering, Electronic Circuit Design and Construction, Engineering Design.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessment will be through a range of projects, assignments, presentations and practical activities. In addition, there will be two external exams in The Engineered World and Interpreting and Using Engineering Information, which will be assessed by Pearson.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of all 10 units and providing you meet all requirements, you will achieve Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Engineering and may progress onto BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Engineering.
