This course is for young people aged 16 – 18 (or to 24 with an EHCP). It is ideal for learners who need to retake their Maths and English GCSEs and who want to be able to progress onto a Level 2 Engineering Course the following year.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
You will be expected to have a minimum grade 2 in English and Maths or demonstrate, through assessment, a standard of literacy and numeracy suitable for a GCSE qualification.
What will I study ?
You will spend four days a week at Barnet and Southgate College studying a range of subjects. You will be studying for a Level 1 Diploma in Vocational Studies. This consists of 10 units, 4 of which will help develop organisation and study skills; and 6 sector units (these will include 3 Engineering Units plus ICT units and Business Units)
You will also study GCSE English and Maths and you will have a weekly tutorial with your own personal tutor, along with a work experience placement.
How will I be assessed ?
You will complete assessments throughout the year and complete end of year exams.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
GCSE Maths; GCSE English; BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Vocational Studies (Pass/Merit or Distinction grades)
