The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Plumbing is aimed at those interested in a career in the plumbing industry. The qualification follows on from the Level 2 course, aiming to give you advanced plumbing knowledge and skills which you can apply in the workplace. Develop your knowledge and skills at Barnet and Southgate College through practical and theory sessions focused around plumbing installation, drainage, central heating systems and more. Employer and industry involvement is a key element of this qualification. This will enrich the learning experience and give every learner an awareness of the expectations of prospective employers within the plumbing & gas industry. These activities and tasks range from industry-set assignments, to demonstrations and work experience.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
All applicants must have successfully completed the Plumbing Studies Diploma Level 2 and have at least 2 GCSEs at grades 9 to 3 (A* to D) including maths or a Level 1 maths pass during the admission process.
What will I study ?
For this Level 3 Diploma you will learn about complex plumbing and heating systems including, domestic gas installations, health and safety in building services, complex cold and hot water systems and complex central heating systems. You will also continue with Maths and English qualifications. You will be expected to undertake work experience when on the course - (minimum of 315 hours placement) - this could be weekly or as a block release during term time and half terms.
How will I be assessed ?
Your course work will be assessed by a combination of short question online test on each subject and observed assessments of your practical work by a qualified assessor. You will be given help to prepare for all assessments and tests.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
Successful completion of the course will lead to an award of Diploma Level 3 (City & Guilds 6035 Level 3). From here you can choose to proceed to NVQ level 3 or seek an Apprenticeship.

Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?
All students will need suitable clothes for working in construction including toe protective footwear. Purchase of the course text book is highly recommended.
