The course is for anyone who wishes to teach post-16 year olds in the life long learning sector. The qualification provides an introduction to teaching and aims to meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers, such as individuals not currently in a teaching or training role; individuals currently teaching and training (including those who have just begun teaching and training); individuals currently working as assessors who wish to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
You need to demonstrate Level 2 in English and be qualified in the subject you wish to teach. No prior teaching/training experience is required.
What will I study ?
This is a part-time programme lasting for 12 weeks, taught in twilight sessions from 6-9pm at the Southgate Campus. The course programme covers: 1. Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training; 2. Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training; 3. Understanding assessment in education and training.
How will I be assessed ?
You will be assessed through micro-teach assignment work and units as above. What qualifications could I achieve?
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this course students will achieve a Level 3 Award in Education & Training. (Equivalent to a PTLLS qualification.)

Will I need an interview ?
Yes. All applicants will need to meet with a member of staff for an interview and a literacy assessment with an outcome of at least Level 2.

Students will have to purchase study materials, which will be discussed at interview.
