What qualifications or experience do I need?
Applicants will need 3 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above, with a GCSE grade 4/5 (C) or above in English Language - or - Functional Skills Level 2 Grade 3 (D) or above in Mathematics. Evidence of work experience with children is essential.
What will I study ?
You will study Early Learning and Childcare Mandatory and optional pathways. One day a week at Barnet and Southgate College, plus independent study using an e-portfolio. Students will be required to show competence in both knowledge and skills. You will be required to attend a minimum of 12 hours placement a week. Learners will have the opportunity to access additional skills, attitudes and behaviours to be able to access T-Level courses.
How will I be assessed ?
The qualification will be assessed by a range of methods. This includes tasks and assignments such as written information, oral questions, portfolio and direct observation in the workplace. You also need to complete 250 placement hours. 14 assignments, 3 professional development folder and 2 observations. Please ensure you bring a handwritten personal statement of approximately 200 words to your interview, stating why you would like to work in the Childcare sector.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
In order to successfully complete the Level 2 Diploma, you will be required to achieve a total of 33 credits, 29 from mandatory groups plus 4 credits from optional.
