What qualifications or experience do I need?

Students will require 2 GCSEs at grade 2/3 (E) or above (including English Language). Mature students will be required to show that they can work at Literacy Entry 3 or above. Work experience in a childcare setting is desirable. Conditional Offer: Subject to exam results, references and a suitability to work within the education and childcare sector.

What will I study ?

You will study 13 units: Listening and talking to young children/Growth and development/ Respecting young children/Human growth and development/ Healthy eating for families/Healthy living/Sharing learning experiences with young children/Finding out about Forest Schools/Preparing for your next steps/Supporting babies to play/Musical activities for young children/Practical health and safety when with young children/Craft activities for young children. You will also undertake work experience in a pre-school setting starting in Term 2.

How will I be assessed ?

Assessment is through coursework, practical work experience and assessment. Please ensure you bring a handwritten personal statement of approximately 200 words to your interview, stating why you would like to work in the Childcare sector.
