What qualifications or experience do I need?
Learners must be at least 16 years old. They will not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification.
What will I study ?
The objective of this qualification is to prepare learners for further learning and training, whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting, how to support the well-being of a child or young person and child, and young person development.
You will attend College one day per week for 3 hours (9:30 – 12:30 x 18 weeks). There are 3 (3) mandatory units to complete: 1. Understanding schools as organisations; 2. Understanding how to keep children and young people healthy, safe and well; 3. Understanding how to communicate with children, young people and adults.
How will I be assessed ?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: typed assignments using a word document on a computer, leaflets or booklets to show knowledge and understanding, charts or diagrams, or setting up an information board.
