This apprenticeship is for individuals currently working in or aspiring to build a career in business improvement, process optimisation, and operational efficiency. It is suited to those with a keen interest in problem-solving, data analysis, and project management, who are driven to enhance business performance through Lean, Six Sigma, and change management methodologies. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience in diagnosing business challenges and proposing effective solutions, leading and supporting improvement projects to ensure timely delivery, and engaging and coaching teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Apprentices will develop skills in using data analysis tools to measure performance and implement process enhancements and sustainable solutions while effectively managing change by collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure smooth project transitions.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
You must be working in an appropriate role that enables demonstration of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSB’s) of the apprenticeship standard. GCSEs in English at grade 4 or above and Maths at grade 5 or equivalent (preferred).
What will I study ?
Apprentices will develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviors of an Improvement Practitioner. Key areas include compliance and governance (legislative, environmental, health & safety), project and change management (planning and executing improvement projects, managing stakeholder engagement), process analysis and problem-solving (using Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical tools), data analysis and measurement (control charts, root cause analysis, process capability assessments), team leadership (coaching, presentations, influencing improvements), and continuous improvement and sustainability (efficiency, benchmarking, process control). Behaviors include drive for results, teamwork, professionalism, and safe working.
How will I be assessed ?
1. On Programme Formative Assessment, which is conducted by our trainer/assessor. This gives an indication as to how your apprentice is progressing against the apprenticeship standards criteria. 2. What qualifications could I achieve ?
Level 4 Apprenticeship standard as an Improvement Practitioner. Learners aged 16–18 who have not previously achieved Level 2 Maths and English must do so before their end point assessment, while for those aged 19 and over, it is optional.
