This apprenticeship is aimed at those working in the manufacturing industry, an improvement technician is responsible for the delivery and coaching of improvement activity within areas of activity often associated with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Typically improvement technicians work as part of an operational team to resolve problems.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
Where the learner has not previously achieved level 2 Maths and English, they must do so prior to taking end point assessment. The apprentice must be working in an improvement technician role.
What will I study ?
You will learn the knowledge, skills and behaviours required of an improvement technician to demonstrate that you meet the learning outcomes as defined in the standard for improvement technician. Delivery will take the form of a series of either blocked weeks or monthly classroom sessions and will be supported by monthly visits to your workplace to assess the development of skills, knowledge and behaviours required to meet the standard. A series of work-based activities and projects will be available to support your learning. Topics covered will include: DMAIC; RACI Chart; 5S Risk Assessment; Lean Tools; Project Matrix and Charter; Team Working; Problem Solving; Change Management.
How will I be assessed ?
Here are two phases for assessment. 1. On Programme Formative Assessment, which is conducted by your assessor. This gives an indication as to how you are progressing against the standards criteria. 2. End Point Assessment, which is conducted by an Independent End Point Assessor external to the College.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
Level 3 Apprenticeship standard as an Improvement Technician Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2 (as appropriate) Functional Skills in ICT may also be offered
