If you're 16-18, and love Games, Animation, and VFX and want to get involved in some of the UK's fastest growing industries, then this is the course for you. You will develop the creative technical, artistic, design, maths, and programming skills that are vital to the successful creation of all of your favourite games, animations, and VFX. You will challenge yourself by working both collaboratively and independently on projects that will test your creativity, organisational and leadership skills, and showcase your talent.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
You will need 4 GCSEs grade 8/9 - 4/5 (A* - C), including English and a Functional Skills Level 1-2; or GCSE in Maths or a Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media (Distinction or Merit), or Level 2 Diploma in Animation & Games (Distinction or Merit), or Level 2 Diploma in another relevant subject area; and a reference from your previous school/college.(Over 19s will be considered if qualifications and experience make them suitable, but will have to fund the course themselves or apply for a learner loan.)
What will I study ?
You will learn the core principles of games design and the fundamental skills to create animations and VFX, including using a wide range of specialist industry computer software to produce 2D and 3D computer generated imagery, games coding languages, character designs, mobile usability, sound design, and UX & UI design. The course will support your career progression as you learn about working in the creative industries, production pipelines, process management, and the importance of commercial feasibility. You will hone your skills as a leader and team player and leave with both essential skills and a strong portfolio that demonstrates your potential. This course is run in partnership between Barnet and Southgate College and NextGen Skills Training.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessment will be through coursework produced for the industry relevant assignments that you will be given and develop for yourself.

Level 3 NextGen/AIM Extended Diploma in Games, Animation and VFX Skills

Will I need an interview ?
Yes - you will need to meet a member of staff for an interview; to which you should bring any examples of your creative/digital work, and a written review of a game. (approximately 500 words).
Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?
Most of the materials will be provided, but it is advisable to invest in a selection of media storage equipment and materials, so that you can continue your work outside of the studios.
